GoBoat

WebCitz started working with this client in 2022

The Challenge

As a brand with a unique, high-demand product, GoBoat needed a digital presence that could handle viral traffic and translate complex product features into easy sales. Their challenges included:

  1. Platform Modernization: Moving to a scalable, modern Shopify architecture that could support high-resolution video and complex product variants (colors, motor types, accessories).
  2. Marketing Friction: In 2024, their in-house marketing team had ambitious growth strategies but lacked the specific Shopify development expertise to “hard-code” the necessary tracking and promotional tools onto the site.
  3. User Education: Because the product is so unique, the site had to effectively communicate portability and ease of use through a seamless UI/UX.

The WebCitz Solution

We acted as both the primary architects and the technical “special forces” for their marketing department:

  • New Shopify Launch (2023): We built and launched a custom Shopify storefront designed for high conversion. We prioritized mobile-first navigation and optimized the “Buy it Now” flow to ensure that outdoor enthusiasts could easily purchase their watercraft from any device.
  • Marketing Implementation Support (2024): We stepped in to assist their in-house marketing staff with complex site improvements. This included:
    • Advanced Tracking: Setting up specific event tracking and conversion scripts to ensure their ad spend was being measured accurately.
    • Landing Page Optimization: Helping launch specialized marketing pages for seasonal promotions and new product variants.
    • App Integration: Assisting with the selection and technical setup of Shopify apps for email marketing, reviews, and loyalty programs.
  • High-Performance Media Handling: Since the “GoBoat” is a visual product, we optimized how the site handles large video files and high-res photo galleries, ensuring the site remained lightning-fast even with media-rich content.
  • Technical Consulting: We provide ongoing “expert-level” guidance, acting as the technical backstop for their team whenever they want to test new features or layout changes.

The Result

By partnering with WebCitz, GoBoat has successfully transitioned from a growing startup to a polished, enterprise-ready e-commerce brand. The 2023 launch provided the stability they needed, and our 2024 marketing assistance allowed their internal team to execute at a much higher level without being held back by technical limitations. It’s a perfect model of how an agency can empower an in-house team to reach their full potential.
