ASU Live

WebCitz started working with this client in 2021

The Challenge

Alabama State University required a dedicated digital portal for its “Learning & Instruction Virtual Environment” (ASU Live). The goal was to create a high-energy, student-focused platform where the university community could engage with virtual learning opportunities and sign up for institutional events. The project required a design that was both functional and deeply integrated with the university’s unique brand identity, colors, and student-group culture.

The WebCitz Solution

WebCitz developed a fully realized, interactive WordPress platform tailored to the “Hornets” community:

  • Brand-Centric Visual Design: We utilized a custom color palette and professional photography that aligned perfectly with ASU’s school colors (Old Gold and Black). The design was specifically crafted to appeal to the student body and faculty, ensuring the portal felt like an authentic extension of the university.
  • Custom Event Signup Functionality: We engineered a robust backend system to manage event registrations. This allowed for streamlined signups, providing the university with a powerful tool to track attendance and manage virtual environment participation.
  • User-Focused Navigation: The site was designed to be highly intuitive, ensuring that students and staff could easily find schedules, resources, and upcoming “Live” sessions without friction.
  • Institutional IT Consulting: Throughout the process, WebCitz provided technical consultation to the university’s IT department regarding the deployment and hosting of the WordPress environment, navigating the complex security and infrastructure requirements of a large public institution.

The Result

While the project was ultimately sidelined due to internal institutional infrastructure shifts, the ASU Live project remains a testament to WebCitz’s ability to build complex, brand-accurate systems for the higher education sector. The completed build demonstrated a perfect balance between high-level aesthetic design and the practical technical requirements of a large-scale university event platform.
