WebCitz started working with this client in 2020
- Client: Happy Lucky's Teahouse
- Platform: Shopify
- Industry: Food & Beverage, Retail / E-Commerce
- Services: Ecommerce, Maintenance / Support
Happy Lucky’s Teahouse turned to WebCitz for expert Shopify maintenance and user experience consulting, aiming to make their extensive online catalog as inviting as their beloved Old Town storefront. Through targeted technical improvements and strategic UX guidance, their digital shop became easier to navigate and ready for peak shopping seasons.
The Challenge
As an established physical brand with deep roots in Old Town Fort Collins, Happy Lucky’s had already transitioned to Shopify in 2019. However, by late 2020, they needed a technical partner to provide:
- Expert UI/UX Feedback: A “fresh set of eyes” to identify friction points in their sprawling catalog of over 200 teas and teaware accessories.
- Platform Refinement: Minor technical adjustments and maintenance to ensure the Shopify backend was optimized for the high volume of holiday traffic common in the fourth quarter.
- Digital Strategy Consulting: High-level feedback on how to translate their highly sensory in-store experience (smelling and tasting tea) into a compelling digital format.
The WebCitz Solution
We provided a concentrated “Maintenance & Strategy” block to help refine their digital presence:
- Shopify Technical Maintenance: We handled the backend “health” tasks to ensure the site remained stable and fast. This included reviewing their app stack and theme performance to prevent any slowdowns during peak shopping seasons.
- Consulting & UX Audit: We provided strategic feedback on the customer journey. For a brand that focuses on “Nourishing Your Happy,” the online experience needs to be as calming and intuitive as their physical teahouse. We looked at navigation, product filtering, and the checkout flow to ensure they were world-class.
- Content & Layout Feedback: We offered guidance on how to better display their vast inventory. With so many blends (Black, Green, Matcha, and Signature Blends like “Madame Grey”), we consulted on ways to help customers find their “new favorite” through better categorization and visual cues.
- E-commerce Best Practices: We shared insights on current Shopify trends and features that could help bridge the gap between their brick-and-mortar loyalists and their growing national customer base.
The Result
Our work in late 2020 served as a technical and strategic “check-up” for Happy Lucky’s. By providing expert Shopify support and honest consulting feedback, we helped ensure that their digital storefront was as welcoming and efficient as their 100-year-old historic firehouse location in Old Town. It was a perfect example of how WebCitz can provide high-impact assistance in a short period to help a local “gem” thrive online.
