WebCitz started working with this client in 2021
- Client: Medmic
- Platform: WordPress
- Industry: Art & Design
- Services: Maintenance / Support, Web Development, Web Hosting
The Challenge
Creating a site for doctors and surgeons to share art requires a delicate balance of professional credibility and creative freedom. MedMic’s primary hurdles included:
- Multimedia Versatility: The site needed to seamlessly host diverse content types – from long-form essays and poetry to embedded music and visual art galleries.
- User Engagement: It wasn’t just a blog; it was meant to be a community hub. The architecture needed to encourage exploration across different creative “micro-niches.”
- Aesthetic Alignment: The design needed to feel “elevated” – reflecting the precision of a surgeon but the soul of an artist.
The WebCitz Solution
We implemented a “Digital Anthology” model, focusing on content discoverability and technical reliability:
- WordPress Community Build (2021): We developed a custom WordPress site designed to act as a sophisticated digital magazine. We prioritized clean typography and plenty of white space to ensure that the poetry and literature remained the focal point.
- Advanced Multimedia Integration: We engineered the backend to handle a wide range of media. Whether a healthcare professional wants to share a recording of a musical performance or a series of digital paintings, the site displays the work with high-fidelity performance.
- Categorized Content Hubs: We built out intuitive navigation for the various creative categories (Poetry, Music, Prose, etc.), allowing the founder to curate a rich library of physician-led art.
- Ongoing Managed Stewardship: Since 2021, we have provided consistent maintenance and support. This includes security monitoring to protect the intellectual property of the contributors and core updates to ensure the site’s performance never lags.
- Managed Hosting: We host MedMic on our secure, fast infrastructure, ensuring that this creative sanctuary is always available for a community that often seeks it out after long, demanding clinical shifts.
The Result
By 2026, MedMic has evolved into a vital “third space” for the medical community. Our work turned a surgeon’s vision into a polished, authoritative platform that bridges the gap between science and the humanities. By trusting WebCitz with the technical management for over five years, MedMic has been able to grow its contributor base and foster a unique culture of artistic sharing among some of the busiest professionals in the country.
