The Challenge
Ppoll wasn’t a standard informational site; it was a complex social platform that required high levels of user interaction and data organization. The primary challenges included:
- User Networking & Privacy: The client needed a system where thousands of citizens could create profiles, network with one another, and identify their specific congressional districts.
- Real-Time Legislative Tracking: To be effective, the site had to show current legislative activity. Manually updating bills was not an option; they needed a way to display recent updates dynamically.
- User-to-Representative Connectivity: The core “hook” of the site was allowing users to communicate their voting preferences to their specific U.S. Representatives, requiring a clear and persuasive user interface.
- Funding & Sustainability: As a community-driven initiative, the site needed a secure and professional way to accept online donations to support its operations.
The WebCitz Solution
We utilized the flexibility of the Joomla CMS and the robust Community Builder framework to create a feature-rich advocacy platform:
