Joomla MLS Integration Repair & Website Stabilization for Real Estate Brokerage

WebCitz started working with this client in 2016

A broken MLS feed and unstable website put Rooftop Realty at risk of losing leads in the competitive Las Vegas real estate market. WebCitz stepped in to restore data integration, stabilize the Joomla platform, and revitalize the user experience for both agents and homebuyers.

The Challenge

For a modern real estate brokerage, the website is only as valuable as the data it displays. When Rooftop Realty approached WebCitz, they were facing several “blocker” issues:

  • Broken MLS/IDX Feed: The most critical failure was the site’s connection to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). The integration had become unstable, meaning users could not see accurate, up-to-date property listings.
  • Technical Stability: The Joomla CMS had various underlying bugs and outdated components that were causing performance lag and layout inconsistencies.
  • Property Search Friction: If a user can’t easily filter for homes in the Las Vegas market, they quickly move to a competitor’s site. The search functionality required immediate technical attention to restore its utility.
  • Lead Flow Interruption: With a broken feed and buggy interface, the brokerage was losing out on high-value organic leads from prospective homebuyers.

The WebCitz Solution

We implemented a “Technical Stabilization” roadmap, focusing on the complex backend logic that governs real estate data syncs:

  • MLS Re-integration: We performed a deep-dive into the site’s IDX (Internet Data Exchange) framework. By troubleshooting the API keys and data mapping, we successfully re-established the live feed from the local MLS, ensuring that property listings, photos, and pricing were accurate and synchronized in real-time.
  • Joomla Core Maintenance: We audited the existing Joomla installation, updating vulnerable extensions and patching core software to ensure the site was secure and compatible with modern server environments.
  • Database & Search Optimization: We refined how the site queried the massive amount of real estate data, improving the speed of the property search tool and reducing page load times for mobile users.
  • UI/UX Patching: We fixed a number of “hanging” issues on the frontend – broken links, misaligned contact forms, and graphical glitches – restoring the professional image of the Rooftop Realty brand.

The Result

During our partnership from 2016 to 2017, Rooftop Realty regained a functional, competitive digital storefront. By repairing the MLS integration and stabilizing the Joomla backend, WebCitz ensured that their agents had a reliable platform to showcase homes and capture leads in the fast-paced Las Vegas real estate market.
