Transforming complex subdivision data into an easy-to-navigate, interactive platform, Whitehawk Meadows empowered buyers and builders to view real-time lot availability and details at a glance. This custom solution ensured up-to-date inventory and a seamless experience throughout the life of their development project.
The Challenge
In the land development industry, the most critical piece of information for a prospective buyer or builder is availability. Whitehawk Meadows needed a way to communicate complex subdivision data in a simple, visual format. Their challenges included:
- Visualizing the Neighborhood: Static lists of lot numbers are difficult for buyers to understand. They needed a way to show where a lot sat within the context of the entire subdivision.
- Rapid Inventory Fluctuations: As lots were reserved, sold, or adjusted in price, the website needed to reflect these changes immediately to prevent double-bookings or pricing confusion.
- High-Stakes Technical Data: The site had to host and display detailed “Plat Maps” – technical drawings that show the divisions of a piece of land – which required high-resolution clarity.
- Stability and Longevity: As a multi-year development project, the site needed to remain online and functional through various market cycles without requiring a total overhaul.
The WebCitz Solution
We implemented an “Inventory-First” roadmap, building a lean and efficient platform that prioritized data accuracy and visual clarity:
- Custom HTML/CSS Architecture (2009): We hand-coded the website to ensure maximum performance. By using a custom static build, we guaranteed that the site would be incredibly fast and stable, which was essential for local builders accessing the site from mobile devices at job sites.
- Interactive Plat Map Management: We developed a system for managing and displaying subdivision plat maps. We acted as the client’s “on-call” editors, manually updating the graphical maps to indicate:
- Lot Status: Color-coding lots to show “Available,” “Pending,” or “Sold.”
- Pricing Tiers: Ensuring that current selling prices were clearly associated with each specific lot.
- Acreage & Features: Detailing specific lot characteristics, such as walk-out basement potential or wooded borders.
- Builder and Buyer Resource Hub: We organized the site to serve as a one-stop-shop for both individual homebuyers and professional homebuilders in the Appleton area, providing easy access to restrictive covenants and subdivision bylaws.
- Managed Hosting & Long-Term Stewardship: For several years, WebCitz provided the hosting infrastructure and managed all technical updates. Because we were deeply familiar with the custom code, we were able to perform rapid updates as soon as a lot was sold.
The Result
From 2009 until the company successfully concluded its operations and the business was closed, Whitehawk Meadows maintained a professional and authoritative digital presence. Our partnership ensured that their land inventory was always accurately represented to the Fox Valley real estate community. By trusting WebCitz with their custom development and plat map maintenance, the developer was able to focus on land acquisition and sales, knowing their digital “sales office” was always up to date.
