The Challenge
1-800-Flags approached WebCitz while operating on the PrestaShop platform. The client was facing several technical hurdles that impacted the user experience and internal efficiency. Specifically, the site’s filtering system – critical for customers navigating thousands of flags by size and country – was inconsistent. Additionally, the “Recommended Products” engine was malfunctioning, and intermittent checkout errors were causing potential friction during the conversion process.
The WebCitz Solution
Our team stepped in to provide dedicated technical maintenance and platform stabilization. We performed a deep dive into the PrestaShop architecture to resolve the following:
- Advanced Filtering Repair: We overhauled the faceted search logic to ensure customers could accurately filter flags by dimensions and country of origin without errors.
- Performance Optimization: We implemented speed improvements to reduce page load times, enhancing the overall browsing experience. At the time, we also helped migrate the hosting to one of our own servers dedicated for ecommerce.
- Checkout & Logic Fixes: Our developers identified and resolved critical checkout bugs and fixed the cross-selling logic for recommended products.
- Data Integrity: We assisted with complex data migration tasks to ensure product information remained accurate and well-organized.

By stabilizing the platform and resolving long-standing technical debt, WebCitz provided the owner of 1-800-Flags with a reliable, high-performing e-commerce store.
