How Do You Redesign A Website?

The project will begin with a kick-off meeting. Here you will meet your graphic designer and project manager. In this meeting, you will discuss the scope of work, the goals, and have an in-depth design discussion. After the Kick-Off meeting, your Designer will begin working on either a wireframe or a homepage mockup. Then, we will work on the site's design and then gather content. We will begin development once you are satisfied with the mockup. After your site has been developed and tested, we will train you or your team on how to update it! We will then set a launch window for your website. After launch, we can assist you with optimizing your digital marketing strategies and helping your business to grow.

In addition to the physical appearance, a website is comprised of the site architecture and the technology behind it, both of which may or may not help or harm your Google positioning and user experience. If you are only seeking graphic or content updates, that is one thing, but if your site is not meeting industry benchmarks (such as site speed, mobile responsiveness, content architecture, etc.), it is a good time to evaluate your options. Starting with a new web design allows you to discuss your business as it stands today as well as where you hope to be in the next several years. Modern websites offer a greater degree of functionality in order to simplify the process of updating and maintaining them in the future.

During the redesign process, your website will become truly unique to YOU. We have a starting cost of $5,000 (~50 hours) for non-ecommerce websites and $7,500 (~75 hours) for ecommerce websites, but the sky is the limit from there. For example, the largest single project we have worked on required 1,600 hours and cost over $150,000 to develop.

A website redesign has a great impact on search engine optimization, and it is something that should be taken seriously. We say this because many of our clients come to us after experiencing poorly executed web development projects. This means that previous companies charged a lot of money for cutting corners by failing to perform the mandatory tasks such as 301 redirects, optimizing for site speed, and reviewing for mobile compatibility, etc.

The above factors can result in a decrease in the value of your website's search engine optimization and negatively impact your website. We emphasize to each client, when we are undertaking a website redesign, the importance of ensuring that no mistakes are made that could negatively impact SEO.

If improvements are needed, they should be made through a recurring marketing program that gradually addresses the various factors that affect search engine placement. You won't see an immediate improvement in your SEO rankings by simply undergoing a website redesign; much more work needs to be done behind the scenes.

An average turnaround time for a website redesign project is six to eight weeks, but the client sets the pace. In the initial stages, how much input you are able to provide, how quickly you are available for feedback, and when the content is available are important factors. Complexity of the site may also play a role - more complex sites will require more time to develop.

It should be clear that there is no one-size-fits-all approach here. Generally, you should redesign your website every two to three years. If your website is three years old - a lifetime in the digital world - chances are it is outdated. It is likely that what was attractive and aesthetically pleasing three years ago is not so today.
